Working through different aliases Pedro has been releasing music for the past six years on labels like Extended Records, 1980LYFERS, Wolf Music and Pedro’s House. His latest releases on Hear, Sense and Feel, the label he runs with Basma, have seen him shift towards sounds more local to him, and on their show of the same name on Balamii Radio, Pedro and Basma play the songs that remind them of home. For Pedro this could mean Portuguese-Brazilian, for Basma Sudanese-Nubian. Then again, maybe not, maybe Basma finds little licks of her mother tongue in the gentle voices of Tuareg guitarists, or a spiritual home in the fevered shahadas of Senegalese griots. On the other hand, Pedro might discover in an old Trás-os-Montes folk tune sudden vocal improvisations that send him straight to Arabia. The two of them would dip into these intersections, where an Ethio tezeta blends into Brazilian saudade, and then right back out, Portuguese revolutionary anthems to counter Sudani lady beats. Basma likes to dive even deeper into Sudanese music and memories on her show Khartoum Arrivals on NTS Radio.

Pedro was born and bred in Vila Nova de Gaia, Portugal. Basma is UK-born with Nubian-Sudanese roots. Both London-based.
